I found Glue-All while going through older compositions on my Tascam Cassette-based 4 track. On that first version, I had taken inspiration from the back of an Elmer’s Glue label. There is something about Elmer’s Glue that is deeply connected to childhood for me. I mean, who didn’t use this stuff as a kid? But it also takes me back to an incredibly painful and deeply resonant memory of losing my mother to breast cancer when I was 10. Looking back at my younger self, I responded to that grief by disappearing into myself. It took me many many years to come out of that dark hole from childhood. Glue-All speaks to my need as an adult to put the pieces of my childhood-self back together. And that has been hard work.
