about
This is an interpretation of William Carlos William’s poem, The Great Figure, written in 1920. I love the simplicity and directness of all his work. This poem resonated with me particularly because when my first child was born, we were living in an apartment in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco, a few blocks from one of the busiest fire stations in the City. Almost every evening we would hear the sirens of the fire trucks leaving the station, bouncing off the building walls in one of the densest parts of downtown. Thankfully, my son was never bothered by the wail of the sirens, and they never had to put out any fires in our building.

lyrics
Among the rain
and lights
I saw the figure 5
In gold
on a red
firetruck
moving
tense
unheeded
to gongs clangs
siren howls
and wheels rumbling
through the dark city

The energy of these guys' sound is remarkable. Easily one of the best records in recent memory for me. Everything they've released slaps so hard. Pierce Randle
What a fucking great punk album. So many layers and dynamic changes, from charging sing-alongs to swirling psychedelia. I love the whole vibe of this thing. andrewtherooster
This compilation is a good cross-section of indie and lo-fi tunes from the community of the UK-based independent label. Bandcamp New & Notable May 17, 2019
