about
Many years ago, I was taking a class in the history of cinema at CCSF (City College of San Francisco). This was where I was first introduced to one of the most influential movements in the history of filmmaking: Italian Neorealism. On the heels of the German retreat at the end of World War II, Italian filmmakers grabbed their cameras and began making narrative films in a documentary style. They used small crews and non-professional actors with hand-held cameras to film real life as it unfolded before them. I fell in love with films like Rome, Open City (Rossellini, 1945) and Bicycle Thieves (Vittorio De Sica, 1948).
This song is composed entirely of film titles that are either from the Italian Neorealist period, or were directly influenced by that incredible moment in film history. These titles are arranged in such a way as to give a narrative arc to the song that could be the subject of a film from this historical period.

The energy of these guys' sound is remarkable. Easily one of the best records in recent memory for me. Everything they've released slaps so hard. Pierce Randle
What a fucking great punk album. So many layers and dynamic changes, from charging sing-alongs to swirling psychedelia. I love the whole vibe of this thing. andrewtherooster
This compilation is a good cross-section of indie and lo-fi tunes from the community of the UK-based independent label. Bandcamp New & Notable May 17, 2019
